The brief was to create a site which would:

•    Feature the full range of events, performances and exhibitions throughout the area

•    Provide listings of activities, sports and heritage organisations

•    Showcase local businesses, artists and craft workers

•    Provide a directory of accommodation providers, B&B, hostels, self-catering and hotels

Events and activities are featured in magazine-style articles with images, photographs and the facility for YouTube footage.

Individual businesses, organisations and service providers can become members of West Cork Guide for an annual payment.

A Full Member is entitled to:

•    A full, one page magazine-style article describing their business or activities – all text is edited to professional standard by our own editors

•    Up to 4 images plus a logo if there is one included in the entry

•    A gallery of up to 6 photographs attached to their entry

•    A banner advertisement to run in the rotation on the West Cork Guide web site with unlimited impressions and clicks. Monthly reports on clicks and views via e-mail

•    Active links to their own web site and email

•    One YouTube video, if there is one, to run in the entry

We had to set up an online management system for West Cork Guide so that businesses and organisations could sign up for membership and pay online.

There is also a facility to create special offers and discounts for specific groups of members built into that system.

Within a few weeks of going live the site was attracting significant numbers of unique visitors and high numbers of page views.

It continues to grow, attracting increased traffic every month in terms of unique visitors from its target countries and numbers of page views, as well as continuing to be indexed regularly by all the major search engines.
